The loss of his beloved wife has turned Theodor Moody into a bitter old man. He is inconsiderate and mean-spirited, and thanks to his advancing dementia, he often doesn’t even remember his behavior afterward.
One day, Theodor suffers a stroke. Waking up in the hospital, he finds that he’s suddenly able to remember all of his callous behavior. But that’s not all—he also seems to have acquired some sort of supernatural ability.
While struggling to understand all of this, Theodor forms an unlikely friendship with a worker at the rehab center and her nine-year-old son—something that brings a sense of purpose back into the old man’s life. What he slowly comes to realize, though, is that his new friends are living in a home controlled by a sadistic man whose cruelty knows no bounds—and if Theodor wants to help them, he’ll have to master his new abilities before it’s too late.
But is a grumpy old dog like him even able to learn new tricks?
